Southend 40 Harlow 5 Essex Cup In a hard fought game the players took pride in there shirts and made the National three side work very hard for there points. At half time the score was just 8-0 to the home side, and Simon Vanbeck had been held up just short of the line on the stroke of half time. A score that could have made all the difference. At half time the Harlow Team were pleased with the way they were defending and the way they were stopping the Southend backs coming into the game by constantly hasseling the Southend half backs not allowing them to work with good quality ball. In the Second half Southend came out firing and quickly increased their lead to 18-0. At which point Harlow went on the offensive and from a penalty they had a line out 5 meters out. Thrown short to Kerry Palmer the Harlow Pack drove the opposition back and Jake Kent-Pope touched down. Andy Vanston missed the conversion from wide out. Southend then scored straight from the kick off to nullify the advantage Harlow had worked hard to gain. This was followed by an additional couple of tries by Southend in the last 20 minutes to slightly flatter the final score. The Harlow players will be pleased with the performance and will take that into the league game next week against Rochford. Try: Jake Kent-Pope
