Harlow 1st XV -v- Witney/Marlow/Dunstablians/Tring
Stan Wallis Cup
Harlow Start Pre-Season Warm Up at Tring 15s Harlow sent a squad of twenty two players to the Tring 15s tournament on Saturday. Despite having a number of key players not available, particularly in the backs they can be pleased with the overall outcome. The majority of the side there were from regional division 1 and 2 leagues and despite playing clubs who compete at a higher level the Rams were competitive and made their opponents work in all of the games. Without doubt their best result was to hold Midlands Div 1 side Dunstablians to a draw; a game they almost snatched as their forwards almost managed to drive over the try line on the final whistle. From a Harlow viewpoint the best news was the return of a number of players who were injured or unavailable for the latter part of last season. Jamie Pope and Paul Scott returning to in the pack will give the team a boost at flanker and second row respectively. Wayne Morgan, centre, and James McFerran, full back, both returned after injuries which kept them out for a whole season. Wayne’s strength in the tackle and James’ confidence under the high ball will be particularly valuable. . Mark Twinner who spent most of last season playing for 2nd team made a good debut at this level. New players Will Grimley, centre, and Nigel Cappleman, back row, both made successful debut in the Rams shirt. Results
