Harlow 9 Brentwood 47 London Three North East League Another defeat for Harlow at the hands of a powerful and quick passing Brentwood side. The Rams fought for possession throughout his match, the Harlow team having the edge on the visitors at the set pieces. Starting without their injured skipper, Paul Eynon, who has a strained groin, and with wing Will Grimley, unavailable, Harlow fell behind after five minutes and after each side had missed a penalty Brentwood scored another try to lead 12-0. The Rams then put some pressure on the Brentwood goal line and a penalty was awarded which James McFerran converted. Brentwood replied from the kick off with a drop goal and then McFerran put another penalty over to reduce the arrears. At this stage Harlow were competing well and looked to be in with the chance of a win. However it was Brentwood who rallied and scored with a drop goal and two converted tries. The only score from Harlow was another McFerran penalty. Just before half time flanker Mark Bowering, was yellow carded and open side flanker Wayne Morgan went off the pitch with a deep cut on his lip and was replaced by Kerry Palmer. The Harlow pack continued to control the scrums and line outs but when Brentwood won possession they invariably made ground and scored. In the second half Harlow spent some time in Brentwood territory but could not covert their possession into points. The referee gave a yellow card to James McFerran and the Brentwood inside centre, Abbott, for a late tackle and retaliation. Harlow then replaced winger Chris Webb with Rob Mackie, returning having recovered from a broken ankle. Mackie played well and pulled off a try saving tackle on Abbott who received a second yellow card resulting in a red card for forearming Rob Mackie as he attempted to clear his line. Prop James Ephgrave replaced Paul Prindiville for the last ten minutes. Second in the league Brentwood played well to register an emphatic victory and although the Rams gave away seven tries, they had three players sin-binned and failed to find that extra push to get them over the goal line.
