Harlow 24 Bury St. Edmunds 17
Pre-season friendly
For
Harlow
last Saturday was the final chance to prepare for the
start of the new season. They could not be happier with the outcome, despite
having a number of key players missing they fielded three sides and came
away with three good wins. The first team’s convincing win over London II N
side Bury St Edmunds is particularly pleasing as was the performance of
players moving up from the colts. Aled Hills at fly half made a strong
presence on the scoreboard despite only being on for half a game and
Mobashar Mahmood was solid at tight head. Neil Fitzpatrick at scrum half
distributed the ball well and allowed the
Harlow backs to
apply considerable pressure. The tries from Hills and from brown coming into
the line at speed split the defence wide open and with only a little more
good fortune there could have been several more. New signings Paul Humphries
and Lee Covington both performed well in positions where
Harlow needed
more depth. Harlow
vice-captain Simon Vanbeck in charge for the day in the absence of Eynon ran
in a good try to make the game safe.
