Harlow 17 Bishops Stortford 14 Friendly 27th November 2010 In an exciting encounter at Ram Gorse , the Harlow Second fifteen, supplemented by some four or five First team boys won this local Derby. In their league matches they have come up against some very stiff opposition and conceded a lot of points but on Saturday they played good rugby with spirit and determination. They fully deserved their victory which came about when they scored the winning try in the final few minutes of the match..With both sides committed to open, running rugby and bringing their three quarters into play at every opportunity there was end to end play throughout. Harlow had to defend well at times but it was the home side who took the lead.'Harlow forced a five metre scrummage and scrum half Charlie Woodington made a break down the blind side passing to number 5 Josh Drake. His pass to the wing found fly half Michael Dobson, who powered his way over the line. The visitors replied with a long spell in the Harlow twenty two and came close to scoring . But it was Harlow who broke away to score. They extended their lead when prop Paul Prindiville crashed over as he peeled off the back of a rolling maul. With neither try
converted the teams went in at
half time with the scores at Harlow 10
Stortford 0. In the second half Stortford worked hard to keep possession and gain ground. They were rewarded with a try from second row Gareth Abbott who burst through to touch down. With the successful conversion Harlow's lead looked increasingly fragile and the visitors came back to score a second converted try, their captain, Oliver Stigwood playing at full back, the scorer.
This stung Harlow into action and they attacked for most of the remainder of the game. They managed to get up to the Stortford line and with a few minutes remaining hooker James Lewis scored the try, Dobson's conversion a bonus. Harlow 1/2nd team.
