Harlow Celebrate 50 years

Next Saturday Harlow are at home to Bury St. Edmunds in their first league encounter of the season. They will also be using this match to launch the celebrations of their 50th Anniversary season.  The festivities will be launched with a pre-match lunch and the publication of a 50th Anniversary booklet featuring the reminiscences of members from all stages of the club development.  A large number of events are planned for the whole season. The key ones are:

 

Saturday 3rd December: A former players' lunch to coincide the corresponding day in 1955 when a group of rugby enthusiasts met at the Essex Skipper and decided that the New Town needed a rugby club.

 

Sunday 4th December. A former players match v an Essex Police and Fire services XV

 

Saturday 28th January The 50th Anniversary Dinner with guest speaker Gareth Chilcot

 

Sunday 29th January. A celebration of the club’s first match against Brentwood. Harlow Presidents XV v Brentwood Presidents XV. To be preceded by both Ladies and mini rugby games, both aspect of the sport which did not exist when the club was founded in 1955.

 

Saturday 15th July A Grand Summer Ball to bring to a close the anniversary year and to launch the club planned for the next 50.
