After a whole load of pfaffing around, we now have 6 teams confirmed for the Spooner Sixes and it will run over Saturday, 24 July (2.30pm) and Saturday, 31 July (1.00pm).  Please note the following:-

*  The participating teams are captained/managed by:

     Paul Eynon

    Stuart Wilkins

     Nikki Millman

    Justin Evans

    Lee Pike

    Kevin Ellis

*  The entry fee is £25 per team, payable before 24 July

The rules are as before except re-introducing a previous rule into the Spooner 6's this season.

The intention is to award a turnover if the Dummy Half gets touched legitimately (i.e after moving 5 metres) the reason being to stop the simple pick up and charge on which was turning the touch game into semi-contact as some teams tried to intimidate others and steal yards by charging into/through the opposition.  A copy of the rules will be emailed out to each team this week and a copy handed to each captain on the 24th.

*  We hope to have enough referees to take every game but could each team nominate one squad member who will take on a game if we are struggling

*  The plan is for each team to play one another once (3 games on 24th and 2 on 31st) on a league basis - 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw.  Points difference will be used in the event of teams tying for league positions and, thereafter, it will be down to points scored.  If teams are still tied then.....I don't know really!  A drink-off in the bar?

*  At the conclusion of the league stage, the top two teams will play off for the trophy while 3/4 and 5/6 will play each other to determine final positions
*  Trophies, kindly donated by Mick Ellis, will be awarded to the winning team and the runners up

Any questions, please call Ken Potter on 07970 293296 or email kpotter705@aol.com

Above all, we hope everyone will have fun and enjoy the event.  We would ask some of the more competitive players to remember the word 'Fun' and just enjoy it without all the Rambo stuff!
