We have received the below invitation to attend a Golf Day to raise funds for Kevin Hartie (Campion RFC) who has sustained a very serious high neck injury which has resulted in paralysis of his upper and lower limbs.  Kevin is now wheelchair bound and living at his family home in Hornchurch and in receipt of twenty four hour care.

We are writing to you in connection with Kevin Hartie.  Kevin was playing for the Campion RFC 1^st XV on 12^th February 2000 at Cottons Park in Romford.  Early in the second half of the game Kevin was tackled.  As a consequence of the tackle Kevin sustained a very serious high neck injury which has resulted in paralysis of his upper and lower limbs.  Kevin is now wheelchair bound and living at his family home in Hornchurch and in receipt of twenty four hour care.

We as a club have attempted to raise money for Kevin and his family since the time of his accident.  The monies raised and collected are held under the terms of a trust The Campion RFC Kevin Hartie and Hartie Family Benefit Trust 2000 and the monies are used to help defray the various costs and expenses which Kevin and his family have to meet in light of their changed circumstances.

This will be the ninth year when we have held a fund raising Golf Day for Kevin and we hope that it will be as successful as the last when we raised approximately £7,000.00.

Therefore we are inviting you to be a part of this event, to enjoy a great day of golf, to raise money for Kevin and have fun doing so.

The cost of the day will be £75.00 per person (with teams of four competing) and the day will comprise the following:

Coffee and Bacon roles on arrival

27 hole stableford competition

(being 9 holes in the morning and 18 holes after Lunch)

Buffet Lunch

Three Course Dinner

Presentations

There will be various on course prizes and competitions - such as nearest to the pin and longest drive.

There will be spaces for 34 teams and you are advised to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment as we were over subscribed last year.  To secure your team entry please complete the Booking Form on the reverse of this letter and send it to Kevin Dolby with a cheque for the appropriate amount made payable to “The Kevin Hartie Golf Day” in the addressed envelope provided.

The day will present many money raising opportunities, in terms of sponsoring holes, on-course prizes, wine for the evening meal etc… so please do not hesitate to contact us should you be interested in contributing in this way, or should you have any other queries in connection with the day, the arrangements or Kevin Hartie himself.
