Harlow Ladies 32 Chelmsford 0 (4th November 2007)

Harlow ladies produced a convincing win over Chelmsford on Sunday, running in six very good tries. Throughout the game they maintained a steady attack on their oppomemts territory and the score could easily have been much higher. With regular No2 Emily Gizzi still recovering from injury Carla Marshall took over the hooking duties with great success; taking three against the head and putting in some great tackles. Two new players, Claire Lacey and Amy Kent,  made their debut both playing with confidence despite only having recently joined the squad.

Perhaps the best news from a Harlow perspective was the performance of the team as a whole with four players running in very good tries and other members of the squad also featuring in the attacks. On this showing they will be a hard side to defend against. 

Harlow started well with a try from fly half Keighley Diprose and then Becky Hodges quickly added another, both 40 yard runs.  Chelmsford regrouped and for the next 15 minutes kept play midfield mainly through they heavier pack. Good Harlow tackling however meant that they never looked like scoring. A second Hodges try make the game fairly safe for Harlow.

After the turnaround Nicky King extended the lead with a good try chasing down the ball after a long kick through. Her second try was probably the best of the day with the ball passing through the whole back line before she broke away to run in from 50 yards; Conway converted. In the closing minutes centre Rebecca Conway who had contributed to many of the attacks made a good solo break of her own for the final try.
