RFUW SE Harlow Ladies came from behind to record a convincing victory over second placed Peterborough maintaining their fourth position in the league. With two matches left if Harlow win both they are in with a chance of winning the league. Peterborough, very strong up front, played a tight game to begin with and Harlow had to defend for he first fifteen minutes coping iwht some powerful forward play. But it was the Rams who scored first when a breakdown in play saw the home side pass the ball out to Sarah Stimpson. The flyhalf went through the gap crated by her forwards and sprinted 70 metres to score under the posts. Flanker Emily Gizzi made no mistake with the conversion, one of the five she kicked during this match, out of six attempts. The visitors’ pack came back with intent and scored an unconverted try out wide from a penalty. They continued to charge down the middle and scored a second try which was again not converted, leaving them with a 10-7 lead at the interval. Harlow began the second half determined to play their natural running game and within minutes their handling lead to inside centre Davina McCall breaking away to score. A Gizzi conversion gave the home side the lead, Full back Danni McKenna came into the line at every opportunity to add to Harlow’s attacking options and her pass to Abi Perry allowed the winger to score. Stimpson had another excellent run to outsprint the opposition and score Harlow’s fourth try before McClennan ran forty metres to score her second.
