Harlow Rugby mini and midi rugby section provides a structured introduction
to the game for children, both boys and girls ages between 6 and 11. Last
Sunday teams in a range of age groups welcomed Hemel Hempstead to Harlow for
a friendly fixture. It is club policy that every child who trains with the
squad plays in the matches and so in each age group several matches were
played.
Harlow u11s played two matches
Against Hemel Hempstead, with the teams being picked from the following
squad.
Jarod Bates, Archie Langford, Connor Bates, Liam Jones, Taha Alibhai, Lewis
Youngman, George Spillane, Alfie Fletcher, Billy Asplin, Mason Sharpe, Alex
Giles, Billy Reilly, Kenton Stott, Leo Griffin, Taylor Fox, James O'Donaghue,
Alfie Hunter and Khai Sharpe.
Match 1 - Harlow Vikings 21 - 12 Hemel Hempstead
Three tries scored one by Jarod Bates and two by Archie Langford. All tries
successfully converted by George Spillane. This was a hard fought forwards
game, with both sides determined to win ball at the breakdown. Both tries
for Archie Langford came from tap penalties, when he saw a gap and dived for
the line. Jarod Bates took a direct approach, simply taking three or four
Hemel Hempstead players over the line with him.
Match 2 - Harlow Saxons 12 - 7 Hemel Hempstead
Match 2 included all the players who did not feature in the first match, and
again it was a tight game, Harlow wining with two tries from Khai Sharpe.
Both sides kept trying to get the ball wide and play good rugby, but a
combination of a slippery ball and tiring legs meant plenty of breakdowns
for the forwards to contest.
Harlow u9s Played three matches
Game 1: Harlow 0 Hemel Hempstead 4
Game 2: Harlow 2 Hemel Hempstead 1
Game 3: Harlow 3 Hemel Hempstead 3
Harlow played a mixed team 0f 9/10. Harlow started slowlyb losing the first
match but came back to win the next before finishing all square in the
third.
A fier result for both clubs who played well.
The u8's played three games:
Game 1 - Harlow 3 Hemel Hempstead 7.
Two tries scored by Alex Perry, 1 try by Adam Bell. Harlow were good at
tagging but weren't quick enough against this opposition. This was Hemel H
first team and this showed in their performance.
Game 2 - Harlow 5 - Hemel Hempstead 5.
Tries scored by Owen Crisp (1), Zach Maddox (2) and Alex Perry (2). This was
a much better game for Harlow. Tagging was superb and scoring was just as
good as the opposition. The Harlow boys played well as a team and their
support for each other was good.
Game 3 - Harlow 2 - Hemel Hempstead 5.
Tries scored by Alex Berry . Harlow started off strongly, but over the
course of the game things evened up. Again tagging was good and teamwork
good.
