Our club secretary Chris McFerran has received the following invite, anyone interested in taking a team should talk to Chris in the first instance.

Dear Chris

I hope you don’t mind, I got your e-mail address via the RFU website.

I was wondering if your club would be interested in entering my club’s 10 a side tournament on the 28^th April, 2007.

The Super 10’s tournament is designed as a tourists’ tournament - with the emphasis of fun, course rugby and having a great laugh. 2007 will be our 5^th ‘Super 10’s’ and every club that has participated has had a great time, with many returning.

So far we have signed up Llangollen RUFC, Rhyl RUFC, Hullensians RUFC, Ellesmere Port RFC, North Manchester RUFC, Holmes-Chapel RFC, West Park ‘Casuals’ and Eagle RFC.

But we’d like to get a few more touring clubs signed up, before inviting local clubs.

We normally have around 16 teams. [Clubs can put in two teams.] The 16 teams go into the hat, and after a first round of 8 games, the winning teams go into the Cup competition and the losers go into plate competition. Each game is about 8 minutes each way. We then have a simple knock out to establish the winners. So every team is guaranteed at least 2 games. The tournament lasts from about midday to 6pm.

Whitley Bay [and Newcastle upon Tyne] are excellent places to come on tour.

If your club is touring at the end of the season, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better tour weekend.

We will also have spectators 'games and entertainment' e.g. tug of war, try scorers slide of fame, plus the famous ‘Rockcliff blind egg fight’ and much more - plus beer tents, BBQ etc all day Saturday.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

We also have 15 a side games on the Sunday for those who are keen enough, sober enough or still too drunk to care.
