Harlow Rugby Club Colts Presentations Harlow Colts held their end of season presentation dinner at the clubhouse on Friday. At the very successful function attended by the players and their guests and parents Tony McClarnon the colts manager paid tribute to the commitment and team spirit shown by the players. He thanked team coaches Peter Claridge and Kenny Gladden for their hard work during the season and acknowledged the support crew of Tina McClarnon, Sandra Claridge, Sue Gladden and Caron Mouncey for their efforts throughout the season to ensure the smooth running of the team and in the case of Tina and Sandra for providing first aid cover at all the matches.
The awards were presented by Club Chairman Chris Locke. The award for player of the year went to Neil Fitzpatrick who has already made his first team debut in the league and will undoubtedly be on call next season. The best forward trophy went to Kain Claridge who has also already made his first team debut and was also capped for Essex Colts. The best back award went to Darren Quinton who as a first year colt has another season in the squad. The player’s player of the season went to Danny Stonehouse to the acclaim of the whole squad. Commemorative medals were presented to all squad members. The second year colts now move on to senior rugby and the manager wished them every success in their future rugby careers. They were all presented with tankards to mark their time in the colts and youth section of the club.
At the end of the presentation the players staged their own ceremony presenting gifts to the manager and coaches and bouquets to the ladies who had worked for the squad.
Tony McClarnon brought the formal part of the evening to a close with a vote of thanks to the sponsors who have supported the team during his time as colts manager; Lenny Fitzpatrick of F&W.ELECTRICS, Richard Pope of MEDIA REALMS and Mathew Dixon & Geoffrey Owen of GEOFFREY MATHEWS Estate Agents. He wished every success to Tony Hills, the manager of the very successful under 17 squad, who will be taking over the colts management for the new season.
