Upper Clapton Colts 17 Harlow Colts 29

The Young Rams began their season with a win against local rivals Clapton in a closely fought match. The home side took the lead early on before Harlow hit back with a James Clarke try , the number 7 beating two men as he powered over.

Clapton went 12-7 up when they scored their second try, before Harlow’s  scrum half Mark Ellis  reduced the deficit. leaving the score 12-12 at the interval.

The Rams took the lead in the second half when outside centre Dan Hockley scored the first of his two tries. Upper Clapton equalised but as the game wore on Harlow began to dominate. Skipper Barney Goodey intercepted a wayward pass  and sprinted fifty metres before passing to wing Joe Heeney who scored. Then in the dying minutes, from a twenty two drop out, Hockley scored his second try to seal the win. Two of the five tries were converted by Goodey.
