Harlow Ladies 25 West Norfolk Ladies 15 - Eastern Ladies league Div 2 Harlow dominated this game by sheer pace, despite conceding a considerable weight advantage to the visitors. West Norfolk exercised the option to play the game at 10 a side giving Harlow the advantage of an open game. The exploited it from the first minute when Sarah Solheim left the visitors for dead with a 60 yard run down the wing for the first Harlow try. The visitors defended for a while against Harlow pressure before breaking through for a score of their own. A good counter by the Harlow backs put Sarah French into space and she showed a clean pair of heels to the defence to regain the lead. Before half time Chloe Van Dop added another making it 15 – 5 at the turnaround.
West Norfolk started the second half strongly and Harlow had to rely on very strong tackling against physically strong and heavy opposition to hang on to the lead. Sara Solheim virtually made the game safe with another good breakaway try but was then a few minutes later was replaced by Kym Hunter following an injury. Pressure was maintained by the visitors and by the closing few minutes they had closed the margin to 20 – 15 before Nicola King for Harlow broke clear to slot the fifth try and make sure of the win. This result puts Harlow in second place in the league. Next week they are away to Peterborough, a tough proposition but a great opportunity if they could steal it.
