Eastern Ladies League Div 2

Harlow Ladies again had pace on their side on Sunday, facing West Norfolk Ladies in a fierce 12 a side match away. Harlow were given little option than to play 12 a side with Norfolk who were unable to produce a full 15.  However this proved to Harlow’s advantage with Claire Phillips breaking through within minutes to score the first try of the match, the first of her hat-trick. This was shortly followed by a 60-yard sprint down the center of the pitch by Outside Center Sarah Solheim to give her the 2nd try of the match. Converted by Keighley Diprose.  

Even with a superior weight advantage, Norfolk found it hard to win the ball in the scrums, which gave the backs, with a massive aid from the forwards, room to run. The ball was passed out to Sarah Stimpson, who saw space on the blind side a went for it, breaking tackles to score the 3^rd try of the first half. Receiving an awesome pass form Jo Coare, secured the space for Phillips to burst through scoring yet another try. Norfolk then applied the pressure slipping away to score their first and only try of the match, ending the first half.

The second half started strongly with Claire Phillips again showing the players and spectators what she was made of, by receiving the re-start kick and running around the opposition to bury the final try of her hat-trick in the corner. Harlow then spent a considerable amount of time in their opponents half, hit after hit, waiting for the right time to strike, which came when the forwards conceded a scrum on the 5meter line. Nicky King then had the vision to go blind and score a well-deserved final try of the match.

A strong defense, a fast attack and a brilliant effort in the scrums and lineouts, lead Harlow to walk away with the victory, giving them joint second place in the table with Cambridge.
