Harlow Ladies face their third league game this Sunday versus Thetford. Although this is Harlow's first season in the RFUW league structure the two teams have previously met in friendlies.
The last last fixture between the two teams was in 2002-2003 season when Harlow travelled to Thetford. The game was a closely tied fixture played over 3 20min thirds with Harlow taking the lead up until the final minutes when Thetford equalised to bring the score to 15-15.
The result from that fixture was a contributing factor in the decision of the RFUW to place Harlow in the Eastern 2 division, a league that up until now only contained league experienced teams.
The team is looking forward to the fixture and hopes that the home advantage will allow them to continue on from their last victory against Southwold 3 weeks ago.
Captain Kelly Cotterill said: "The win against Southwold gave the team a boost and proved that, although we were regarded as the underdogs in Eastern 2, the ladies have the ability and skill to be included in this league"
Players Administrator Becki Webb also added "The Ladies squad faced a daunting challenge at the start of this season but the commitment and dedication that the players are showing is fantastic. We are welcoming new players, both experienced and novices, on a regular basis now and I hope to see this continue. Also the forwards specific training received from Harlow 1st XV players has been greatly appreciated." |
