The warm up game against Rochford Hundred went well on Saturday despite the final score being 24-14 although we fielded our "Second XV" for the first 20 minutes and conceded 3 tries. When we changed and put our strongest 15 on the pitch we started playing the patterns we are hoping to use and soon pulled back a try scored by David Stradling. In the third 20 minutes we reverted to the team from the first 20 minutes with a few changes and Jon Snow continued to show that he was up for the game and crashed over the try line to get the scores back to 14-17. In the final 20 minutes we started to use the team likely to playing next week against Basingstoke. Although we were unable to add to the score the team gelled well and continued where it left off in second 20 minutes. From a scrum Rochford worked a blind side move where it looked like Number 8 Paul Eynon had caught the Rochford outside half only for him to slip out of the tackle and offload to the winger to score in the corner (Paul was quickly replaced by Scott Thorne). All in all New coach Alan Yates had a good look at all the players on show and he is now in a much better position to make the team selection for next week. |

Please ensure all players turn up for Training Tonight and Thursday. We will be going through team runs/backs/forwards play and will probably be looking to split players into potential teams whether it be 1st/2nd or probably 3rd XV. People below the first team will not be used as cannon fodder which has happened in previous years. This is a chance for people to stake claims on positions for the warm up game this Saturday and for the cup match in a week and a half's time. |

All, Managers/Captains, The Shirt Room has been Audited and shelving provided for kit bags. Ken Potter & Steve Bowering are prepared to carry on the laundry run this year. This is provided that after games the shirts are stored tidily and accountable in their team bags. Many unnecessary evenings are spent each week trying to account for shirts left in disarray. Please help Ken & Steve in what is often an unseen and thankless task. Thank you John Harron. Chairman, HRUFC Rugby Committee. |
