| 9 November | First XV lose to Hertford 15-58, (view pictures) Three good tries from us and very good driving by the forwards from the ruck. That said Hertford were a very class act, this takes them top of the table and on this showing they could win the promotions slot. Looking at the way most clubs are winning some and losing some we still could fight out way out of trouble. Apart from Hertford most sides are potentially within our grasp with the right team out, The points gap in the league is widening however and we need to turn things around soon. We have a couple of weeks break, a lot will depend on the progress of injured players. Other weekend results - Bishop's Stortford 20 Havant 9, Canterbury 13 Worthing 18, London Nigerian 25 Thanet Wanderers 22, Old Albanians 27 Camberley 5, Staines 15 Sutton & Epsom 41 |

This incident report was picked up by a member from the Hertford Rugby Club and relates to a club in Hertfordshire. If someone sees rugby clubs as a target area we are therefore near enough to be at risk. PLEASE READ THIS AND ENSURE THAT WE ARE EXTRA VIGILANT. AS THE REPORT SAYS WE THINK OF RUGBY CLUBS AS SAFE FRIENDLY PLACES TO BRING CHILDREN. WE MUST MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. " I wish to bring to you attention an attempted Child abduction issue that occurred at one of our clubs this weekend during the England game. During the time when the England match was in full swing - and some 200 or so people (including myself) were watching from inside the club house, a white car was alleged to pull up and try to abduct two young children aged under 7. Luckily a slightly older child also playing in the group of kids outside the club house alerted a nearby adult and this appears to have prevented the attempt. The local police were called and I must say, reacted in lightning time. I urge all clubs, normally safe and well policed, during the top internationals to be even more vigilant than normal. If this was as suspected, situations such as major internationals could be used as a distraction to prey on young children. If you, like myself, are doing what we all enjoy, taking our children to the safe and child friendly environment of our Rugby clubs, then I suggest that either you police the situation outside the club house, or my personal suggestion is that you announce to all parents to bring their children inside during the match. My hope is that all clubs will remain safe during this exciting period, and lets try to make this world cup memorable for all the right reasons. " John Reilly, Hertfordshire County Welfare & CRB Manager SOA Team Leader During the time when the England match was in full swing - and some 200 or so people (including myself) were watching from inside the club house, a white car was alleged to pull up and try to abduct two young children. |
