Press Release from Harlow Rugby Club

Swedish Ladies

Harlow Rugby are delighted to have been asked to host a training camp for the Swedish Women's Rugby squad as they finalise their preparations for the IRB World Cup Tournament to be held in England from 20 August to 5 September.  The Club has hosted the Swedish squad a couple of years ago and they were so pleased with the facilities and welcome at Ram Gorse that they have requested use of the pitches again.

The Swedish squad is planning to train at the Ram Gorse playing fields during the morning of Saturday, 31 July and then take on an Invitation XV that afternoon (kick off 4pm).  The players will reassemble at the Rugby Club on Sunday, 1 August for further training before returning to Sweden that day.  The 32-strong squad of players, coaches and officials are aiming to put the final touches to their preparations for the most prestigious tournament in women's world rugby before returning to the UK later in August to play Scotland, France and Canada in their qualifying group.

The early stages of the World Cup tournament are being staged at the Surrey Sports Camp, Guildford with final matches being hosted by leading Premiership club Harlequins RFC at their Stoop Ground in Twickenham.

Harlow Rugby Club runs it's own very successful Ladies senior team  and plans are in place to augment this with a junior U16 squad in the coming months.  For more information about Harlow Rugby Club log onto www.harlow-rugby.co.uk
