Harlow Ladies To Play for Eastern Region & Essex in International 10s Tournament

Four members of the Harlow Ladies team, Chloe Van Dop, Tracey Lee, Sarah Stimpson and Clare Schneider have been picked to play for Eastern Region in the Stockholm International 10 a side tournament in July. The tournament has been running since 1994 and along with the men’s competition attracts top sides from many countries. This year’s ladies competition includes entries from Wasps Ladies and Harlequins Ladies and also the Finland and Uganda National sides. The Scottish National squad are former winners. The experience playing against top level competition will be invaluable for the Harlow players and it is a tribute to the performance of their team as a whole that they have had four players included in an Eastern squad most of whom come from clubs playing in higher leagues.

There is also a ladies under 19 tournament as part of the event and Essex has entered a team which includes Harlow’s Becky Hodges and Frankie Barnes. Again great experience for young players to be part of an event which includes players from the highest levels.

Harlow Rugby club are keen to build up their ladies squads and would be pleased to welcome both seniors and teenagers who would like to know more about the game. Experience is welcome but certainly not essential. Some of the players selected for this major competition learned all their rugby since joining the Harlow club.
