World Cup Rugby Activity

TAG Rugby induction courses are to be run for local teachers in Harlow, to lead into a World Cup TAG Festival for Year 7&8 girls. This will have relation to the A/S youth Games, later in the Year.

Funding available to create a new role - Harlow Rugby Action Group YDO. Funding will allow for a number of sessions (4 x each targets school), that will facilitate a World Cup 10/12 a side event for Year 7 Boys.  Both Events are to be run on the same day at Harlow Rugby Club, Thursday 13th November

YDO Development

YDO agrees to development work plan that incorporates school visits and administration tasks in relation to TAG and 12 a side festivals during the world cup. Also the YDO is responsible for the organisation of the West Essex Energing Schools Festivals, to be held at Harlow Rugby Club (provisionally) in February. This will be managed by the Rugby Action Group which consists of Matt Davies RDO, a representative of Harlow Council, a representative from the SSC and a representative of Harlow Rugby Club.

Past Success of this role
The mini-tag development scheme has to date recruited 248 boys and girls to the mini section of the club on Sunday mornings. There has also been a scheme to develop coaching for volunteers (often parents) who have continued their support into the Junior Section.

At the moment we have a lack of continuity from the mini section to the juniors, this is because the boys and girls have to separate, leaving the boys with too small a squad to compete immediately without recruiting extra players from secondary schools, which is what is currently happening.  To date the girls have no progression at the club which is currently being reviewed.

Break down of where the 248 boys and girls have come from.
