Harlow Rugby Club Youth Round Up  Sunday 18th December 2005.

Colts National Cup. Plate Competition. Round 2.

Westcliff Colts  7  Harlow Colts  5.

Apart from the two tries in the first half this game was a comedy of errors by both sides. Westcliff took the lead when they won possession from the Harlow forwards and broke away to score, the conversion an easy one for the kicker.

Harlow responded with their best rugby of the match. From the kick off they won possession and mauled twenty five metres into the Westcliff twenty two.Within ten metres if the line prop Danny Stonehouse peeled off to crash over and raise the Young Rams’ hopes. The conversion was missed and was eventually the difference between two sides who played out a scrappy match in difficult conditions.

The Harlow three quarters played well and flanker Wayne Heapy made some penetrating runs into Westcliff territory as did fly half Jamie Fricker but they found themselves isolated without support and possession was lost.

Harlow rarely got the ball out to the wings and never made use of the width of the pitch failing to profit from their possession. They also missed number 8 Kane Claridge who has a broken hand and is out for several weeks.

Harlow Colts. Delgreco (Capt.), Ray, Stonehouse, Emery, Brennan, Hayden, Barr, Heapy, Fitzpatrick, Fricker, Kavanagh, Kent-Pope, Mounsey, Smith, Rundell, Kanobar, Thomas.

Upper Clapton Under 13’s  31  Harlow Under 13’s  3.

With several regular players missing Harlow, who started with fourteen men found Clapton’s well organised squad too much for them at Thornwood.

Harlow also fielded two new boys who were making their debut for the Junior Rams. Kane Trendall and Tony Salisbury played well for their first game and another recent recruit James Peddar showed much promise. Harlow’s only points came from a penalty converted by Ryan McGlone but the home side lead 12-3 at the interval. In the second half Harlow began to tire and conceded another three tries. However

the Young Rams played well and will only improve.

Harlow Under 13’s. Goodchild, Turner, Crafton (Capt), Norris, Preater, Besant, Peddar, West, Mortimer, Blackman, Clark, McGlone, Trendall, Salisbury.
