Luton u13's 46 Harlow u13's 12 Friendly Harlow Rams travelled into the unknown to
Luton for their final warm up game before their big Essex Cup match and
vital league match against Southend and Chelmsford respectively in the
next two weeks. We had never played the hosts before and had
no idea of their quality or form. With this in mind coach Digga Hartley
started with his strongest 15 but gave all his squad players a run out
in the second half. The match started with Harlow absorbing a long
period of pressure before a brilliant solo run by inside centre Mason
Sharpe to score under the posts, (5-0), conv Mo Copley (7-0). Unfortunately Luton hit
back straight from the restart, (7-5). Again we were put under a lot of
pressure but held out almost to half time when we were awarded a scrum
in their 22, which was won by them against the put in and a great move
by their backs saw them score just before the half time whistle, (7-12).
HT. In the second half a more experimental
formation with new players saw the opposition gradually take charge
through their very good number 12 a Northampton Saints development
player. A quick tap and go penalty caught us asleep for them to run in
untackled under the posts 7-19. However, we hadn’t given up and a great
tap and go penalty saw no. 8 Liam Jones run in under the posts, (12-19).
From then on they took control and scored at regular intervals. We did
have our chances throughout the second half both out wide were poor
decision making saw us waste try scoring chances and a brilliant forward
drive at 12-24 came to nothing, even after a brilliant charge down by
prop Mitch Youngs in their try area went behind their dead ball line. The final score didn’t reflex the play of two
fairly well matched teams .We seem to run out of steam a little after a
long journey and a tough match last week. Their coach said after it was
the toughest match they have had this season. However, the big games are in the next two
weeks at home which will define our season. Some good work by many of our players with
long periods of tough defending, with the scrum working a bit better
this week. Man of the match Luton inside centre

Friendly
On a damp and misty morning at Ram Gorse Harlow took on SWF in what
turned out to be a keenly contested match with a committed attitude from
both sets of players. Whilst SWF took the early lead with a brace of
tries Harlow fought back valiantly with a series of powerful forward
phases of play and were rewarded when No. 8 Dan Stevenson crashed over
the line to score and duly converted by Jack Almond. HT 7:10
