Harlow Rugby Club Youth Round
Up Sunday 12th February 2006.
Harlow Players win Essex honours
Ross Delgreco and Robert Cochrane played for Essex Under 21s against Herts
on Sunday at Thurrock. Essex won 34 - 19.
Harlow U-15 0 Shelford 48
Harlow Under-15's were given a sharp lesson by a very well organised and
skillful Shelford XV who won the match comfortably. Although the Rams
forwards competed well in the scrums and line-outs, the general display by
ther team was disappointing after recent good perfomances.
The teams lack of tackling was the main reason for the heavy defeat and
their difficulty in holding onto the ball in very wet conditions did not
help either. The Rams never recovered from losing three early tries but,
ultimately, did well to hold the score down to what it was.
Lewis Alderman at stand off and No 8 Michael Blair were the best Harlow
performers on a day when so many others were off-form.
Team: Drake, Tovey, Heeney, Plummer, Neil, Alderman,Ellis, McFarlane, Lewis,
Shawe, Mintoff, Potter, Adams, Collins, Blair and Newman.
Barking Colts 5 Harlow Colts 18
This was a well fought return match from the anniversary match two weeks
ago. O’Dell opened the scoring with a penalty for Harlow. Stonehouse came
from the back of a maul to crash over the line for the first try.
In the second half a pass out wide allowed Rundall to score Harlow’s second
try and then Barking then broke through to score a try. Kavanagh chipped the
ball over the Barking defence for Kent-Pope to pick up and score Harlow’s
third try.
Throughout the game, Claridge and Rhys-Thomas dominated the linouts
All of the U17’s had a good game, particularly Mobasher.
