Harlow Rugby Club Youth Round Up. 8th February 2004. Harlow Colts 62 Woodford Colts 0. With six under seventeens in their squad for this game the Rams ccould have been forgiven for playing ten man rugby but it was quite the reverse. The Harlow pack worked hard to control possession and fly half Martin O’Dell orchestratedb a series of attacking moves that brought ten tries. Second row Robert Cochrane proved to be a real handful for his opposite number and broke away to score a hat trick, shis speed on occasions leaving defenders floundering in his wake. O’Dell had a good day with the boot as well despite a gusty wind and converted five of the tries with Wayne Heapy putting the sixth one over. Harlow lead by 26-0 at half time Cochrane, hooker Markn Bowering, full back Alasdair Phillips and winger Steve Whiting the scorers of the four tries. In the second half prop Danny Lane crowned an excellent game with a bustling try before Philips scored his second. Flanker John Richardson scored after a powerful run , his try sandwiched between two by Cochrane, From the kickoff after their ninth try O’Dell took possession and sidestepped his way from the halfway line before sprinting over the try line. His personal tally for the match 15 points. This was a first class performance by the Young Rams who never allowed Woodford to create any scoring chances, Harlow’s defensive three quarters tackling and covering efficiently throughout.
