Harlow Colts 5 Colchester Colts  60

The Harlow colts were never in this game which Colchester won convincingly.

From the first whistle the visitors attacked the Harlow twenty two.

Despite some tremendous tackling by the Harlow number 8, Ross Ashcroft, the Young Rams did not play at their best;. Indiscipline cost them dear as they gave away penalties in dangerous positions. The forwards had to work hard for any possession and when the ball was won the Harlow backs kicked it away without finding touch allowing the Colchester back three to run the ball back on each wing and the game was lost by the half time whistle..Harlow hopes briefly flickered when the pack set up a rolling maul into Mersea’s twenty two and second row Stuart Ansell forced his way over the line. This was the only Harlow  score and the visitors continued to score throughout the match. Harlow are still without some first choice players but they should have played  with more co-ordination and belief.

With the under 16’s game cancelled Harlow played four of their under 16 squad in this under 17 match. Both teams were short of players and therefore played a twelve a side game. Four Under 16’s stepped up to this match, they were Ryan Clark, Will Lewis, Darren Terry, and Terry Smith.

The Harlow three quarters revelled in the wide open spaces and the Young Rams scored seven tries in the first half with four conversions. In all Harlow scored ten tries, seven of them coming from the back line. There were altogether five conversions ,four by fly half Danny Smith , who also scored a try and one by Kieran Gleeson. Harlow’s try scorers were hooker Lennie Hayden who scored a hat-trick , Centre Jordan Cable and wing Chris Turner who scored two each with centre Will Lewis, Dnany Smith  and wing Ryan Clark , one apiece.

Unfortunately there were further injuries to this  squad and being a small squad they will be hard put to fulfil their fixtures for the next few weeks. They did well however to gain such a sweeping victory.
