Upper Clapton u17’s 5 Harlow u17’s 47

The Young rams ended the year in style running in seven tries as they comprehensively beat a game Upper Clapton side. The Harlow boys had to call up four Under 16’s to boost their numbers and they performed very well indeed.

Guy Foster played  in the second row and Denzil Crafton at number 8 but they were not out of place. Jordan Judge was playing at outside centre and scored a try while David Briggenshaw was on the bench but came on at half time to play on the wing.

Harlow’s pack dominated the first half and secured the ball for their three quarters to run in three tries. All three were converted by fly half Danny Smith.

In the second half Clapton attacked with determination and were rewarded with a well deserved  try . This stung the Young Ram on to  the offensive again and they scored four more tries of which Smith converted three .

The fly half scored a try himself bringing his total points scored in the match to 17. Wing forward Alfie Elston scored a hat trick and the other try scorers were Jordan Cable, Jordan Judge and Denzil Crafton. An excellent team performance from the Young Rams.

In an end to end thriller the Junior Rams were unlucky to concede defeat after putting up a brave performance and scoring two good tries. With only six Under 15 players available Harlow was tempted to call off the game but  twelve of their Under 14’s stepped up to make up the numbers and performed  heroically against a strong East London pack.

Harlow led at the interval having scored twice. First it was Shane Evans, playing at fly half, who forced his way over the line. Following a rolling maul and  driving  into their opponents’  twenty two the Harlow  forwards set up  second row Jay Humphries who scored the second.

East London broke away to reply with an unconverted try, their only score in the first half.

After the break the Junior Rams again went on the attack but were unable to break through. Halfway through the second period  the visitors scored in the corner following a line out. Then with five minutes left they put a passing  move together to score a third try and  to clinch the match.

The Junior Rams were disappointed to lose but made a great effort against a powerful side.
