Essex Under 17 Cup Chingford 10 Harlow 0 The Harlow Under 17s were bundled out of the Essex cup by a strong and aggressive Chingford side who are, at present ,the league leaders. In the heavy conditions which favoured Chingford’s heavyweight pack, the Young Rams competed well and defended well until the 20th minute. Chingford scored a try from a dubious line out which lead to a rolling maul ,the home side scoring in the corner ,the conversion was missed. This spurred the Young Rams to mount a series of attacks on the Chingford twenty two.The home side also tried to add to their score but the Young Rams defended well Greg Norris and Harry Flynn both outstanding The second half was played in the same way as the first.,Harlow were unable to break through, the conditions against their speedy three quarters,. After twenty minutes the referee adjudged that Harlow were handling in the ruck and Chingford spun a quick penalty out wide and scored their second try. The time ran out with the Young Rams trying desperately to pull back a try but it was not to be. The boys played very well against a very physical side New boy Kwabena Adjei came on as sub. and had an impressive debut. Harlow Under 17s. Harlow u16’s 0 Brentwood u16’s 49 Having had some recent success the Young Rams found themselves up against a powerful Brentwood side who have a squad of thirty five players to choose from. The visitors soon took the lead and their strong pack of forwards dominated possession. Harlow’s tackle count was huge as the Young Rams worked hard to defend . The score against would have been even higher if the Junior Rams had not defended so well. As Harlow rebuild this squad two new boys made their debuts and both played well showing promise for the future. Luke Lawrence and Josh Smith will do well for the Club Harlow u14s 24
Saffron Walden u14s
5 Then Junior Rams impressive run of victories continued when they recorded another win against Saffron Walden at Ram Gorse. The home side attacked from the first whistle and soon scored following a great run by outside centre Mitchell Sinfield. Flanker Rhys Davis broke away just outside the Harlow twenty two and ran the length of the field to score The visitors then equalised from a stromg run by their centre.. From a scrummage Harlow then scored a brilliant try. Harlow won their own ball and it was spun out to the fly half,, Jordan Shipp. Feinting to pass along the line Shipp delayed his pass to pop the ball to inside centre Scot Whitby, who took the ball at pace at a superb angle of running. He was through the defence and scored under then posts, a great try. The conversion was also kicked by Whitby to give Harlow a lead of 17-5 at the interval. In the second half the Junior Rams continued to control the game but could add only one more try. The scorer was Sinfield after another powerful run and his try was converted by Scott Whitby. New boy Oliver Holden made his debut for Harlow and played well. Harlow Unde r 15s.
