Harlow Colts
13
Upper Clapton Colts
28.
In this fiercely contested local derby it was
the visitors who won getting their revenge on
Harlow who had beaten them earlier in the
season.
Clapton had the edge over the home side in the
set pieces and also won good turnover ball
throughout. It was the visitors who broke
through to score
two tries both converted before half
time . The Young Rams responded with two
penalties from the
boot of Danny Smith.
Harlow played well for the first part of the
second half and forcing their way into the
Clapton twenty two
attacked in the middle , the ball was
finally
given to
centre Kieron
Gleeson who crashed over . Smith made
another successful kick and
hope flickered briefly
for Harlow. But it was Clapton
who took control in
the dying minutes.
Harlow Colts:
Lewis (Capt), Alderman, Scanlon, Drake, Ansell,
Ellis, Heeney, Potter, Smith, Gregory,
Dickerson, Palmer, Heaton, Coleman, Cable,
Gleeson.
Harlow Under 17s Tour to Cornwall. The Harlow under17s found themselves outgunned when they lined up to play their hosts, Penryn in Cornwall.
The Young Rams found themselves playing against
the Penryn colts side who had reached the
National Colts Cup final .
The Young Rams are to be praised for the spirit
they showed in keeping their hosts at 0-0 for
the first twenty minutes. Penryn then stepped up
the pace and ran in five tries before half time,
Harlow scoring with a long range penalty. More
tries followed as the Young Rams began to tire.
The final score was a reflection of the
abilities and strengths of both sides but after
the game the Young Ram outsung their hosts. |
