Harlow Response to England WinA sporting success at national level always produces a surge of interest at grass roots level. When it is as massive a victory as England’s World Cup win the response will be equally impressive. Harlow Rugby Club had already set up a youth training day at the club ground at Ram Gorse on Sunday, 30th November. The Rugby Football Union(RFU) Youth Development Officer (YDO) for Essex, a full time specialist coach will be in charge supported by a large team of RFU qualified Harlow coaches. The Harlow under 13 to under 16 teams will be taking part but the club has also opened up the session to all local boys in the 12 to 15 age bracket. The session is totally free of charge, all that is required is that those taking part come to the club with football kit next Sunday at 10.30 and bring with them a form signed by a parent or Guardian given them permission to take part. Forms have been distributed through rugby playing schools in Harlow and all young Harlow players have stocks of forms to pass on to their friends. They will also be available at the club on Wednesday and Thursday evening this week, and at the Harlow First XV league match next Saturday. For those who have some rugby experience it will be a chance to extend their skills, for those new to the sport it will be the ideal opportunity to decide if rugby is the game for them. The session will end at around 1pm and refreshments will be provided for participants. Parents are very welcome to come and watch and to have their questions answered. Although this session will be targeted at boys in the 12 to 15 age bracket the club provides for girls and boys from the age of six upwards. There will be specialists on hand from all to give advice about playing rugby to boys and girls and to their parents if they would like to join in. All those who express and interest will be invited to an appropriate session for their group in the coming weeks. |
